With the influence granted by licences from the governments of
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and with private and
public funding, Semta engages with those who plan, fund, supply and
accredit education and training to raise skills levels throughout
the workforce.
At national level we represent our employers’ needs to policy-
and decision-makers in key UK government departments and in the
devolved administrations. We also seek to secure the best possible
deal from the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and its equivalents
for programmes within our sector. Our work with qualifications
bodies aims to ensure that nationally-recognised qualifications are
in place which serve the needs of sector employers – now and in the
future.
Because we understand that sector needs differ across the UK, we
also work with Regional Development Agencies, local LSCs, Local
Enterprise Companies and similar bodies to ensure that specific
regional and local needs are recognised and met.
