Engineering Skills Balance Sheets
The purpose of the Skills Balance
Sheet is to demonstrate the range and level of skills in
its labour force that are necessary to achieve productivity at
internationally competitive levels. Balance sheet
reports contain detailed skills needs assessments as well
as analysis and data about current provision for engineering
and associated sectors. These reports are split by the
various regions and build on work already undertaken in
Skills Action
Plans (Sector Skills Agreements - SSAs).
The reports cover the skills interests of the
engineering industry and are broken down, where appropriate,
into the following areas:
- Metals
- Mechanical
- Electrical and Electronics
- Automotive
- Other Transport Equipment (which includes Aerospace and
Marine)
The research consists of a comprehensive
review of the labour market and includes primary
research including employer skills surveys.
The work draws on existing data, research
reports and intelligence sources investigating productivity,
current and future employment demands, recruitment issues, skills
needs and skills gaps.
