Select Committee calls for topics to
investigate
Summary
The Innovation, Universities, Science and Skills Committee
has issued an open call for subjects suitable for oral evidence in
April or May this year. Any subject which is in the remit of
the Department for Innovation,
Universities and Skills can be suggested as long as it
is not already under investigation by the Committee. Current
Committee investigations include
Engineering,
Putting Science and Engineering at the Heart of Government
Policy, and
Students and Universities
If you have a topic which you think the Committee could cover in
two hours of oral evidence, with two panels of witnesses (the
second panel normally being Ministers or officials, no more than
four witnesses on any panel), why not recommend it? The deadline
for submissions is 27th February.
For more details, see the IUSS Committee press notice
here.

We strongly urge companies to raise issues with the Committee –
Select Committee inquiries usually result in a report, with
recommendations to which the Government responds. They can be
invaluable in raising the profile of the issue and in prompting
government action.
