Royal Academy of Engineering offers £300,000 for
training of engineers
Summary
The Royal Academy of Engineering is offering
companies the chance to bid for awards of up to £15,000 for
training schemes. This year, £300,000 is being made available
to schemes which focus on the development of engineering
staff. The following activities are examples of what will be
considered:
- Work-based learning over the Internet and e-courses.
- In-house training activities, seminars, short courses and
bespoke courses.
- Training required by the implementation of new legislation or
standards.
- Attendance at conferences, seminars and trade fairs.
- Short-term secondments to subsidiaries or to other
organisations in the UK for defined purposes.
- Part-time and distance-learning courses and packages
All UK companies operating in the engineering, manufacturing,
information technology or construction and building services
sectors are eligible, and any size of company is able to
participate. Participating staff should be qualified ideally
with a degree or HND/HNC in engineering or a closely allied
subject. OND/ONC or City & Guilds Full Technological
Certificate or NVQ Level III qualifications are acceptable provided
the individual has substantial industrial experience. They
should also have at least two years industrial experience.
The application, consisting of the training programme, company
form and a participant form for each individual involved must be
submitted before 22 October 2010.
Companies will be notified as to the outcome of their
application by early January 2011.
