The Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies

Engineering UK 2008 Published (UK)

Summary

The annual publication from ETB which brings together evidence from across the UK on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) has now been expanded to contain more extensive supply trends, greater discussion of demand-side issues, as well as expert external case study contributions from various organisations, including Semta.  The report brings together data on STEM learning from early years through to postgraduate level, migrant workers, and the European Qualifications framework.  Looking at ‘demand’ for STEM skills the report contains extensive Labour Market Information, including earnings information and demand for STEM graduates.  The publication can be downloaded from the ETB website here.

Semta View

Semta was delighted to be able to provide case study material which demonstrates how the SSC gathers information on STEM skills and qualifications, using various modelling techniques to project future demand and supply.  Engineering UK provides an invaluable evidence base for STEM policy-making.
