Summary

The purpose of the consultation was to inform employers, learners and higher education providers on what more needs to be done to equip the workforce with the skills required for an innovative and competitive economy. The strategy will be driven by demand from employers and learners.

Next steps

DIUS received over 200 written responses from a wide range of stakeholders including Higher Education and Further Education providers and representative bodies, employers' organisations, Sector Skills Councils and Professional Bodies.  The government published its summary of the responses in October 2008
