The Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies

Consultation -  Conservative Funding for FE (England)

Date published: November 2009
Response due: 15 January 2010

Summary

In the Conservatives' skills Green Paper, published in 2008, they made a commitment to structural changes in the way public funding is provided for training.  In particular, the Green Paper outlined two significant changes that require attention if they are to be implemented successfully: The paper stated that "funding will be administered through a slimmed-down Further Education Funding Council for England".  Secondly, the paper stated that support for workplace training would "be delivered through new Lifelong Learning Accounts."

This paper outlines how both these objects may be achieved in practice.
