Summary
Seeking views on:
- the development of a new approach to "first step" learning for
young people in a community or third sector setting, which are
described as Activity Agreements
- the EMA programme in
schools and colleges
- the allowances payable to young people taking part in Get Ready
for Work
- the financial support that should be available to young people
taking part in Activity Agreements
- the Young Person's Bridging Allowance
Semta submitted a response calling for a rethink of the approach
to Education Maintentance Allowance and Get Ready for Work
funding. We believe cash should go towards prioritising
subjects such as science and mathematics, rather than focusing on
means-testing.
Next steps
The Scottish Executive plans to issue a report on this
consultation by the end of May 2009.
