Funding for Skills Training
Below you will find a list of the current projects that Semta
are undertaking:
Employers can now access funds to invest in improving skills of
employees which deliver real economic benefits. If you are a
company based in England, in the following sectors, you can access
funding for training with the help of a Semta Specialist
Advisor.

Accelerated Apprenticeship
Aim: To develop and pilot a model of delivery for an accelerated
MA programme in engineering.
End date: 31/03/2009
Region: Scotland
PAC (England Regions)
Aim: To increase the capable capacity of LSC providers to 100
validated Trainers/Assessors that can provide appropriate coverage
across the MSA footprint within the regions, plus 216 of the T/As
being funded by NLSC through the NSAM; develop and deliver PAC
awareness programme for non-specialist brokers working in
Providers, IDB and skills brokerage organisations to establish
routes to market.

Leadership and Management Development Programme
Aim: To deliver an integrated training programme to the science,
engineering and metals industry in Wales that will raise the skills
levels of the managers and team leaders / supervisors employed by
this sector.
End date: 31/12/2008
Region: Wales
Manufacturing Alliance Workbased Learning Pathway Pilot
Aim: This project will further develop and manage a work based
learning pathway pilot in engineering, manufacturing and
science.
End date: 31/03/2009
Region: Wales
Shared Apprenticeship Scheme
Aim: To set up and project manage shared apprenticeship scheme
in three areas of Wales
End date: 31/03/2009
Region: Wales
Career Progression for Women in the SET Sectors
Aim: The project will engage Welsh employers within Semta's
footprint to help develop career plans and boost opportuntities for
women employed. The project will provide a lifetime progression
plan for training and development for each individual engaged.
