Prior to becoming General Secretary of the Confederation of
Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions (CSEU) in July 2005, John was
the National Officer of AMICUS responsible for Aerospace and
Shipbuilding.
As General Secretary of the CSEU, his responsibilities include
coordinating the trade unions within Aerospace, Shipbuilding and
Defence sectors on a UK wide basis.
John is also on the National Defence and Industry Council, the
Leadership Council of the DTI's Aerospace Committee, the
Government's Manufacturing Forum, the Marine Sector Strategy Group
and the board of Semta.
John has been a full time Trade Union Officer since 1976 during
which time he has covered almost every industrial sector in the
UK.
John is a former chairman of the European Metal Workers
Federation Aerospace Committee and maintains excellent contacts
with the North American trade unions active within Aerospace and
Shipbuilding.
