Born 1947 in Dundee, Scotland
Appointed as a Group Managing Director in January 2002
responsible for establishing a Shared Services business within BAE
Systems. Shared Services has responsibility for Property and
Environmental Services, Advanced Technology Centres, Indirect
Procurement (£800M spend p.a.), Enterprise IT Services, e-Business,
Intellectual Property, Workplace Services, University Partnerships,
Technology Brokering, Insurable Risk Services and Corporate Air
Travel.
In January 2003, became Group HR Director and a member of the
BAE Systems Executive Committee whilst retaining responsibility for
Shared Services. Appointed Chairman of the Scottish Advisory Board
on its formation in December 2003.
Previous appointments since joining British Aerospace in 1989,
included Managing Director, M&A Operations, Managing Director,
Merger Integration (overall project management responsibility for
the merger integration of British Aerospace and Marconi Electronic
Systems). Commercial Director for BAE’s Commercial Aerospace
activities and operational/general management roles.
Alastair is married with four children.
