New campaign to increase supply of young engineers
The Engineering and Technology Board (ETB) kicked off
its ‘Engineers Make It Happen campaign in October.
This collaborative campaign aims to improve the supply of
engineers at technician and apprentice level to meet industry’s
needs, and to improve the flow of students through further
education to higher education. Specifically, the campaign aims to
reduce the drop out rate that occurs particularly in the first year
of engineering courses, to increase the pass rate, and to better
motivate students to take up engineering careers. ‘Engineers Make
It Happen’ will do this through a marketing campaign and practical
activities, implemented with a variety of expert partners.
